CSS Drop Cap – C
See the Pen Drop C by Chris Lowe (@alltimelowe) on CodePen.
Set in Vampiro One, a unique and low contrast script faceĀ from Riccardo De Franceschi that draws inspiration from 20th century Italian monoline scripts.
Going for a bit of a painted sign feel, I continued the css mask-image technique of the drop B, but chose some pretty bright colours to give it a retro-futurist feel. As an alternative to text-shadow, in this case I used pseudo elements :before and :after along with position: absolute to give a bit finer control over the “shadow.” This allowed me to scale the letter C used to knockout the colour, and hide the right elements of the bottom C.
